The Abdominal Liposuction Procedure
Because our surgeon will be using local anesthesia, you will be awake the whole time and can even talk to the surgeon if you’re feeling any discomfort. The anesthetic agent that is injected takes effect within a few minutes and allows you to remain comfortable during and hours after your liposuction treatment. Once the target area is numb, micro cannulas will be inserted at tiny incision sites so that the melting of fat can be performed. The melted fat is then suctioned away from the body.
In addition to addressing the extra deposits of fat in your abdomen, the laser liposuction technique that Dr. Tirgari utilizes can also help tighten the skin of the area that will be treated. As he melts the fat cells with the use of the laser-tipped cannula, the procedure also kick-starts your body’s collagen production, which helps to tighten and firm the surrounding area, thereby giving you a more toned and supple result. Abdominal Liposuction Recovery
After the procedure, Dr. Tirgari and our staff will monitor you. You’ll be able to return home the same day, though you’ll need someone to drive you home since you may be feeling slight discomfort and numbness. You will most likely be asked to wear abdominal garments for several days until the swelling subsides. In the days following the procedure, you will be asked to stay home for one to three days, depending on how much fat was removed and your own tolerance level for discomfort. Generally, this procedure is ideal for people who are close to their ideal body weight but are having difficulty losing the extra deposits of fat. If you are overweight, you may be asked to undergo some exercises and dieting before you are approved to have liposuction surgery.
