How Are IPL Treatments Performed?
Before starting your IPL procedure, one of our providers will apply a layer of ultrasound gel over the treatment area and adjust our IPL machine to the appropriate setting for your skin type, specific concerns, and the area we're focusing on. Once you're prepared, they'll glide the IPL handpiece over your skin as it emits short pulses of light energy. This light is absorbed by the darker pigments and broken blood vessels in the skin, which will break down over time and be flushed out by your body. At the same time, the warmth from the device stimulates collagen and elastin production deep beneath the surface for long-term rejuvenation. Is there downtime after IPL treatment?
IPL requires little downtime, so most individuals can return to their normal routine shortly after treatment. Mild redness, swelling, or a sensation similar to a light sunburn is common for a day or two, and pigmented spots may temporarily darken before naturally flaking away over the following week.
