How Is Dysport Different From BOTOX?

Dysport and BOTOX are similar because they both contain small amounts of botulinum toxin Type A. However, there are differences. Dysport acts faster than BOTOX, for example, and you get softer, longer-lasting results. You'll see a smoother appearance right away and the full results within a few days. Some clients prefer Dysport in San Diego because it's more potent than BOTOX and more cost-effective. The most significant difference is that Dysport spreads more quickly than Botox once injected, making it perfect for larger areas like the forehead.

What To Expect

Once you've completed your consultation and decided that Dysport in San Diego is the right treatment for you, Dr. Tirgari will thoroughly review your care.

Before Treatment

  • Avoid medications that can increase bruising (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen) and fish oil supplements and herbal remedies that may have the same effect. Consult with your physician if you have prescribed medications.
  • Avoid peels, topical remedies, etc., for at least 2 days after your injection.
  • If you’re pregnant or trying to become pregnant, please let us know.

During Treatment

  • Your practitioner may apply ice and pressure to reduce bruising and any discomfort you may feel.
  • You may feel some fullness, numbness, or tightness.

After Treatment

It’s helpful to stay upright for about four hours after the injection to reduce the risk of complications and bruising. Other aftercare tips include:

  • Avoid heat (hot showers and baths, washing your face, hot tubs and saunas, yoga, and prolonged sun exposure) for at least 24 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous activity for at least 1-2 days.
  • Don’t massage the area or get a facial for at least 3 days.
  • You might notice small, red dots or minor bruising, and you can use alcohol or makeup remover to help clear your skin. Light makeup can be used if needed.
  • Any bruising you experience typically resolves within hours to a few days.
  • You might experience a mild headache, which is normal. You may take Tylenol if needed.
