DermaPen Treatment?

The DermaPen stimulates the skin’s natural ability to heal, by stimulating collagen and elastic production. It creates microscopic tears on the skin’s surface, which encourages skincare products to penetrate deeper into the uppermost layers of the skin. The DermaPen has been proven to stimulate collagen production, resulting in a reduction in sun damage, acne scaring, uneven skin tone, stretch marks, wrinkling and large pores. The DermaPen may be used to treat most areas of the face, neck, chest, arms, legs, abdomen and back.

How Does
DermaPen Work?

DermaPen treatment takes less than thirty minutes with little to no downtime. Depending on your unique needs, we can penetrate the skin at different depths for best results. In fact, we offer this treatment at varying degrees depending on your existing skin damage and after-treatment goals:

  • Light DermaPen Penetration: The light penetration treatment will open the skin long enough to introduce products and serums for skin lightening, sun damage and anti-wrinkle products. On a daily basis, these products hardly get beneath the skin’s surface, which is why long-term use is necessary to see results. The light DermaPen penetration allows us to apply any product for better absorption and results.
  • Mid-Level DermaPen Penetration: The most common and will improve overall skin tone and texture as well as remove mild sun damage, acne scars and light wrinkling.
  • Deep Level DermaPen Penetration: This is the most recommended for patients with mild to moderate skin wrinkling, extensive skin damage and scarring. In fact, the deep penetration can even improve stretch marks and burn scars.

Recovery And Aftercare

After the procedure, patients will notice a healthy pink glow on the skin immediately following treatment and will be sent home with home care products that contain growth factors, which will further enhance the final results.

Over the weeks following treatment and up to six months after, patients will continue to see enhancement in their complexion and collagen production. The number of treatments will vary and will be determined by one of our skilled San Diego cosmetic dermatology specialists.

In general, depending on the level of penetration, DermaPen patients will notice mild redness and swelling on the second day, followed by just redness on the second day.
