How Does Photofacial/IPL Treatment Work?
Your photofacial treatment generally begins with applying a layer of ultrasound gel to the treatment area. The handpiece is then applied to the a skin. The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) handpiece delivers a broad spectrum of light to the skin. The light is absorbed by the blood and melanin in the skin. In response to this, the body’s natural healing process is triggered, which then heals itself, thereby removing all of the damaged tissue, skin discolorations and irregularities.
IPL technology can be adjusted to deliver a variety of wavelengths, which allows us to optimize the treatment according to each patient’s unique needs. For best results, treatments are completed within 4 to 6 sessions, and occasional maintenance treatments, especially for patients with melasma and rosacea.
