A chemical peel is a procedure in which acid is applied to the skin. The acid separates the bond between skin cells, causing the peeling process. Chemical Peels help with underlying bacteria causing acne, acne scars, hyperpigmentation (sun spots), minimize the looks of pores, fine lines and wrinkles. The peeling process generally last for three to five days, after which clients report an improvement in texture and elasticity of the skin. It is strongly recommended to avoid prolonged sun exposure during the peeling process and up to two weeks after the procedure to ensure the skin has healed. For optimal results, a series of three to five chemical peels may be recommended.

Chemical Peels and Acne

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions in teenagers and adults. It can be caused by hormones, environment, pollution, lack of nutrition / poor diet, hereditary, stress and sometime a vitamin deficiency. There are 4 different stages of Acne. Grade 1 can be light occasional pimples or breakouts and Grade 4 can often be described as cystic acne. All stages can be treated with a Medical Grade Chemical Peel. Chemical Peel is a deeper exfoliation of the skin that will kill bacteria, smooth tone and texture, minimize fine lines and wrinkles and acne scarring and in turn stimulate collagen and elastin strengthening the integrity of your skin. Getting Chemical Peels in a series to treat your skin condition is recommended for optimum results and continuing with maintenance that is best for your skin type. Medical Grade Chemical Peels are also great for hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, large pores, dull skin, freckles and just overall cell turnover.

The importance of regular exfoliation is imperative for acne. Acne essentially is the build of bacteria in the dermis which in turn causes inflammation. Acne lesions are filled with dead skin, oil and dirt. The pores are unable to shed the skin they’re supposed to so exfoliation is needed to help shed the dead skin. Unlike other topical therapies such as benzoyl peroxide, which only dry slough off the top layers of the skin, a medical-grade peel works much deeper and removes multiple layers of dead or inflamed skin more effectively. The peel ingredients can also be much more efficient at targeting and reducing acne than other therapies, and often work faster. They can even reduce future acne breakouts as well as stimulate the production of collagen and elastin that is needed to help in the decrease of acne scars.
